The Dog Days

The dog days or dog days of summer are the hot sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which was connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs and bad luck.

What this means for us...summer is waning and fall is slowly creeping in...we can already see an ever so slight change in the trees.  Fall is my favorite time of year...the crisp air, the riot of  greens, yellows and orange.  But, most of all the scent of cinnamon and pumpkin!!!

This week on mail day I received a surprise that I had to share here...it just couldn't wait for a video!  From a high school classmate, Danielle...who so gets me, LOL...I received ice trays that check all my boxes...Bees, Happy Hour and easy to clean!!! Thank you Danielle...since it is supposed to be 90 today we are taking Happy Hour  into the mountains and our refreshments will be especially sweet!!!

Everyone has challenges in life and we are no different but I actively choose to focus on the good in my life.  This ability to embrace the good does not come naturally but something that I train for...just like I trained to run.  I had my last series of doctor appts. this being with a neurologist and the bottom line is he said go forth and live...you are good...of course like any doctor he said it was awesome that we are a whole food plant based family...stay away from the processed vegan food and cut back on the salt.  Oh man...I love salt!  Then my day even got better when a neighbor stopped by...Jean Wells and she brought me the sweetest gift...

She knows I like Bees and she had some sweet fabric...plus, she used some of Valori Wells hand printed pieces.  I love her talent with color and print and now I have the sweetest pincushion!

Take care of your Challenges and Embrace your Blessings

  2. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last year. The shaking makes it hard to hand sew but love it so. I’m going to continue to do the things I love.

  5. Wonderful gifts....I didn't know Valori Wells made fabric-love the bees. I love salt too but not when something is over-salted. I sprinkled some on my watermelon yesterday-my favorite fruit of the summer. I love fall also but it's soooo short. Congrats on a great check up.

  6. So glad your dr. appointment went well! Good news is always welcome.
I never knew the reasons behind "dog days", all I knew was that it's hot! Fall is my favorite season and my favorite scent is that of wood burning stoves.

  8. He had a series of health issue we couldn't figure out...it will be 2 years this January. After seeing a series of specialist including an allergist we found out he was allergic to chicken, eggs, pork, gluten...the line goes on and on and so we just switched and it was amazing the transformation for both of us. It definitely changed our lives but we have never looked back.
