Life is a Chair of Bowlies...

I always loved that saying by Mary Engelbreit...somehow it resonated with me about how unpredictable life can be.

Todays blog is a short one...lots going on as we load up and hit the road.  Enzo is back in the pack...we still don't have a clue what was going on or what happened at the other vets office to cause him to limp and be in pain. But what I do know is I am no longer a retired nurse!!!  I am now back at work with a canine patient of one.  Although we don't have a clue what is wrong with him what we do know is his lab work is normal, he has no tic or flea born diseases, no giardia, no valley fever...I think he just picked up some illness at the groomers maybe???

He is a sweeties and we are all grateful for the positive thoughts and wishes from all his friends!  I will keep you posted as we bump along down the road!

  1. Good news from the Lab work. Hope he continues to feel better and throw of the bug. There seems to be alot of Bugs floating around. I've had one going on a week now and at 86 yrs old, stuff hangs on way too long. Happy Trails !

  2. He doesn’t seem impressed by the boxes and vials of necessary cures. But I’m sure he is glad to be packing up to head home again.

Hope he is back to his usual joyful self soon. Safe travels home.

  3. maybe he is just "home sick". Glad to hear he is well enough to travel and that everything is coming back normal - frustrating that we do not speak their language so they can explain exactly what they are feeling to us!

  5. OMG?!? Poor Enzo. Nursing skills...always a good skill to have. Remember when someone sewed her finger with a sewing machine while on retreat? Yep. Nurses...good to have them around.

  7. Praying each day is better than the last for Enzo and also for you and G. Those bottles sure bring back memories for me. I kept the tall ones syringes came in and use them for my tall needles used in soft sculpture dolls. Did they do an xray? My Phoebe tore a ligament & they wanted to do surgery but then they discovered her first tumor so they said no surgery and no more vaccinations. That was 2012 and I was her caretaker until she passed away last summer-outlived the doctor's estimates. I wasn't a nurse but had to toughen up because I'm so emotional so I'm not nursing material at all. Enzo is in good hands.

  11. So glad Enzo is doing better. We RN's may say we are retired but you know we just can't seem to hang up our "hats". It doesn't matter if it is a human or a fur baby we just go into nurse mode at a moments notice. That is ok as I can say I have loved my nursing career. Safe travel.

  12. So glad to hear Enzo is on the mend. Travel safe as you wend your way home. We have a couple more weeks and then will be packing up. We're almost in that period of eating strange meals to try to clean out cupboards, fridge and freezer!

  14. Hope you get far enough to read this....the comment before me looks to be a scam. I am truly glad Enzo seems to be on the mend. Last year we lost our 2 sisters(yellow labs) at the age of 14. They passed within a few months of each other. We have our 4 yo lab and adopted a puppy lab in Nov.. Within one week that pup was diagnosed with Parvo. She had it when we bought her. Thankfully our 4 yo is healthy and we will try for another lab in August. We really know the pain of losing a baby...dog. I did pray for Enzo...They're all His creatures and He loves them too.
