Quilt Knit Stitch 40th Ruby Jubliee + Give Away!

First, the winner of last weeks Give Away is Annie!!!  Send me your address and I'll drop them into the mail tomorrow!

This weeks Give Away is an adorable juvenile quilt donated by a friend!  If you are interested just leave a comment on this blog post and please be a follower of the blog by clicking on the button above all the smiling faces "Join this Site"

This past weekend was filled with "Life"...the highs and lows...I went to Portland with a couple of friends to attend Quilt Knit Stitch...the high...it was a spectacular show!!!  The low...this is only the 2nd year it has been here and it will be the last year.  For a variety of reasons which I am not privy too it has not been successful and so next year will be moving and will be part of the Houston Show.  Dang!!!

I was able to snag some tickets to Wicked and it was spectacular.  If you ever have an opportunity to see it...DO!  It was heartwarming, funny and thought provoking.

I can't begin to share our weekend adventure in one blog post so I will spread it out over several days...soooo many photographs!!!  I am not following the adventure in order because the Ruby Exhibit was so spectacular that I just have to start with the Red & White Quilts.

Enjoy the slide show...get a cuppa coffee or tea...cause there were a lot
of red & white quilts! LOL

  2. Sweet quilt kit, and my little granddaughter just very seriously informed me that the quilt I made for her 2 years ago is getting old and she would be needing a new one "when I'm five." What's a grandma to do?

  3. Loved seeing those Ruby Jubilee quilts again, I got to see them in Houston and they are so amazing.

I'm sorry to hear they didn't give the show more of a chance to find their place in the quilting world.

I'm surprised to see so few people in some of your larger shots of the quilts.

Looking forward to see your stash enhancement!

  4. I didn't make it to the show----I was trying to find a vendor list but didn't see it on their web site-----I have to confess that the vendor list is what's important to me, it makes or breaks the deal for me to attend. Everyone posts pictures of the quilts so I get to see them not as good as in person but ok-----no one posts pictures of vendor booths. Was there a lot of wool booths??

  14. Thank you so much for sharing the quilt show with us. As a vendor at that show, I can tell you its very expensive and there just wasn't enough customers to even pay for our booths. Its a lovely show, I wish it had done better!
Before I was a vendor I didn't even realize how much it cost for the shops to come and sell at shows. There is the booth price, travel, hotels, food and if you keep losing money at it pretty soon your business is gone.
I appreciate all you do in promoting our designs!

  18. I leave for Uganda in a month. The ladies I teach in the village would love to make this child's quilt. So many babies, cold nights, and few blankets available. I would love to win this kit and take it to them. Thanks for sharing with us.

  20. Interesting that the show lasted such a short time. They gave Long Beach, CA 5 years and then went up to Portland to test the waters. Maybe there are just too many huge shows to sustain the vendors' interests. It really is all about the vendors and if they don't come, the show doesn't make enough profit. It seems like there are tons of major summer shows in the midwest and east coast... I guess the vendors are spread too thin. Too bad! We are going to PIQF in Santa Clara in October. That's always a good show. Why don't you come, Anna?!
