The Charm Shack...Catching Up

The blog posts this trip have been all over the board...and posting is dependent on if the local WiFi is working.  The timeline is not quite the schedule we kept but I am slowly getting everything posted including today's slide show which was at the The Charm Shack at the beginning of our trip :)

Yesterday we decided to drive out to Kanabe which is know as Little Hollywood because so many movies and TV shows were filmed on location there.  They had a Movie Set Museum which had seen better days but HH still got a kick out of seeing some of his favorite Western movie sets.

Once we finished the Movie Museum HH said, "Let's go to the Grand Canyon...it's only 80 more miles!"  And so off we went and boy were we happy we decided to make the trip.  The aspens were changing colors and the scenery was stunning!

I was soooo surprised at the vastness of the Grand Canyon.  Some of the trails were not for the faint of heart since there were no guard rails and cliffs on both side of the trail!  My toes were tingling!  We lucked out because it turns out that they were about to close the North Rim for the season!

Enzo enjoyed himself and the smells of the Grand Canyon were Divine!

We took a break in Ontario Oregon on our way to Idaho and Utah and lucky me there was a quilt shop'!  The best part of quilting is all the people you meet and the owner Heather was a delight!  Although she does have a website she does not do Internet sales so if you see anything in the slide show give her a call at...

Heather was a full time Social Worker until she decided to open a quilt shop!  But as with all quilt shops it is a struggle to make ends meet and so she added a long arm quilting business and works 2 days a week as a Counselor!  Be sure to call ahead as with many of us in this age group she is making an effort to be with her father who lives out of state and will occasionally close the shop if she has to go down :)   We MUST support our brick and mortar quilt shops!  There is nothing like going into a shop and feeling the ambiance!  I know that occasionally you have to shop the Internet and I know that sometimes it is cheaper but please make an effort to help the local shops out.

I found this cute fabric for a grandson pillow case!

Enjoy the slide show!

  2. I've been to the Grand Canyon several times, mainly in the Summerr or early Spring and happened upon snow so the north rim was closed. Truly a place to feel small.

Love the Charm Shack, went there before the current owner bought it but I met her at a Mary Lou Weidman retreat.
