Celebrate My Friends, come on...A Give Away!!!

It is here...August 2012.  I just need to breathe....in and out, in and out...this August is huge and I have waited so long to say, it's August!  My youngest son moved to Illinois in June 2011...I have not touched him since the day he and his fiance drove off into the sunrise the day after his college graduation (sigh).    I take that back, 3 months after he left mom passed and he flew out for the service...((double sigh))  How life can change in a moment. Now...it is August 2012, the month of his wedding in OREGON!!!!  I do not know how my mother survived leaving her family in another country and not seeing her mom and sisters for several years!

I made 20 more fans yesterday...they are so cute...not the fans but, Connor and Emily.

To celebrate August's arrival the Woolie is having another Give Away!!!  I bought 2 of these fabric panels/prints of the Sister's Outdoor Quilt Show poster designed by artist, Kathy Deffendorfer!  I am using one to make a pillow for my sis and the other one...can belong to you!  All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is be a registered follower of the Woolie blog and leave a comment on this post that you would like to win.  This Give Away will run through Sunday and the winner announced on Monday!

The bridal shower is on August 12th and is a recipe shower!  no gifts, just 3 of your favorite recipes!  I am driving over the mountain and attending with my sweet DIL, then returning home the next day only to travel back over on August 15th when HH and I head over to meet family that is flying in, playing tour guide in Portland and then the WEDDING on the 19th. The newlyweds will be spending a few days at Quiet River for their honeymoon before returning to Illinois for work and school. Why am I telling you this???  I have got to get going on my August UFO NOW!  or, it is never going to get done!  Here is a sneak peek....

Have a spectacular Wed.  I plan on sewing, acupuncture, farmer's market and this evening a meeting at City Hall...oh...and the Olympics!!!

  1. Oh, how I would love to win that...since I worked the show, I didn't get to see any of the quilts that were not hung out our window.

I do not know how you manage to be away from your boys...I will be a basket case when Holden goes off to college!

Here's to another beautiful day in Sunriver...off to make some eggs and then hit the pool with a friend.

  2. If I win Michelle can have it, lol.
My son and his wife are getting remarried in Malaysia in a few weeks and I still need to make the pillow. I have this wonderful embroidery machine and no idea how to use it, but I need to get it done this week.

  10. Congratulations on Connor and Emily! August is going to be a very busy month for you. I can't imagine being apart from one of my sons for so long, but I have the feeling that I should be prepared to have it happen some time in the future. Enjoy every minute of togetherness!

Don't enter me for the panel - my plan is to come to Oregon for the Sisters show one year and get my own ;-)

  12. I would love to win a panel so that I can look at it (I would make a quilt of course!) and wish I was there, drinking a cup of delicious coffee and shopping at the quilt store.

One of the things that I love to do for my loved ones when they get married, is to find a beautiful "nothing" book (blank pages) and after writing a dedication page, enter a few of our family recipes for them for starters. In the dedication I encourage them to have other family and friends enter the recipes that they most enjoy, as well as adding their own over the years of their marriage. What a treasure trove of memories, as well as recipes for favorite dishes, to teach their children to cook from!

  21. Sad when the family isn't close by. I am the one of 5 that moved away and my kids never really got to know their cousins, etc. But that is how life courses go some times.

thanks for a chance at the panel.

  26. Love that panel.

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials. My son moved to New Orleans 3 years ago, stopped home in May for 3 days and now lives in New York City. He's a whirlwind of movement and how I miss him when he's gone! But in good news..my oldest son and his wife are expecting my first grandbaby in October...a little girl. I'm thrilled and hopeful his brother will fly home from New York since he'll be a first-time uncle too.
